LifeCare Home Health & Hospice Family Names Dr. Nasser Khan President and Chief Operating Officer
LifeCare Home Health & Hospice Family has named Dr. Nasser Khan President and Chief Operating Officer, bringing extensive clinical, operational and executive leadership experience to the organization as LifeCare continues to strengthen and grow its family of home health, hospice and personal care companies.
In his new role, Dr. Khan will oversee operations across LifeCare’s portfolio of companies, working alongside executive and local leadership teams to advance operational excellence, support continued growth and integration, and strengthen the delivery of high-quality care across the communities LifeCare serves.
Dr. Khan joins LifeCare with more than two decades of experience spanning healthcare operations, clinical medicine, strategy and organizational leadership. His career has included senior leadership roles across some of the nation’s largest and most complex healthcare organizations, with a focus on building high-performing teams, improving operational performance and creating scalable systems that support both growth and quality.
Most recently, Dr. Khan served as Chief Operating Officer and Group President of Acadia Healthcare, where he held responsibility for a nationwide behavioral healthcare operation encompassing more than 260 facilities and approximately 25,000 employees. During his tenure, he helped lead significant growth initiatives, operational improvements, health system partnerships and the continued development of leadership teams across the organization.
Prior to Acadia Healthcare, Dr. Khan served in senior leadership roles with Shields Health Solutions, DaVita Kidney Care and Biograph. His experience has included healthcare operations, strategic growth, acquisition integration, partnerships and the development of operating platforms across geographically diverse healthcare organizations.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Khan was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, where he advised healthcare organizations on strategy, operational transformation and post-merger integration.
What distinguishes Dr. Khan’s background is the combination of operational leadership and clinical training he brings to the role.
Dr. Khan earned his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Medical Science degrees from Brown University, where he also completed his undergraduate studies in Human Biology. He completed his internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
That clinical foundation has remained an important part of a career increasingly focused on healthcare leadership and the systems that support patients, clinicians and caregivers.
“Dr. Khan brings a rare combination of clinical insight, operational experience and demonstrated leadership at scale,” said Dean Alverson, Chief Executive Officer of LifeCare Home Health & Hospice Family. “As LifeCare continues to grow, his experience developing teams, strengthening operations and bringing organizations together will be invaluable. Most importantly, he understands that strong operations ultimately serve a larger purpose: helping our teams provide exceptional care to patients and families.”
Dr. Khan has also remained active within the broader healthcare industry, including service as a member of the Board of Trustees for the National Association for Behavioral Healthcare.
Supporting LifeCare’s Next Chapter
Dr. Khan joins LifeCare at an important point in the organization’s continued development.
LifeCare Home Health & Hospice Family brings together healthcare organizations serving patients and families through home health, hospice, personal care and other home-based services. As the organization continues to expand its reach, LifeCare remains focused on building a connected family of companies while preserving the local relationships, clinical expertise and community presence that define each organization.
As President and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Khan will play a central role in that work.
His leadership will include strengthening operational alignment across the organization, supporting LifeCare’s continued integration and growth, developing leaders and teams, and helping ensure that the infrastructure behind the organization keeps pace with the needs of the patients, caregivers and communities it serves.
For LifeCare, that growth is ultimately about more than scale. It is about creating a stronger healthcare organization capable of supporting high-quality care across a growing network of communities while maintaining the personal connection that is essential to care delivered in the home.
“We have an opportunity to continue building an organization that combines strong local care with the resources and capabilities of a larger healthcare family,” Alverson said. “Dr. Khan’s leadership will help us continue moving that vision forward.”
LifeCare Home Health & Hospice Family welcomes Dr. Nasser Khan as President and Chief Operating Officer and looks forward to the leadership, perspective and experience he brings to the LifeCare organization.
